Harpenden Seniors Forum
Objectives of the Organisation
Harpenden Seniors Forum was set up to help seniors by providing information on services available locally as well as some national organisations. We organise a programme of events every year to give seniors the opportunity to find out about what is happening locally and to get together. We have over 1400 members in Harpenden, who receive our newsletter delivered to their home. Our phone-line volunteers deal with a wide range of questions about local services 10 a.m. - 12 noon Monday - Friday.
Our popular Seniors Fair is held in October every year with around 36 local organisations, clubs and businesses taking stands to promote their activities. Every year you will find some new exhibitors.
We run different events every year: recently these have included taster sessions for keep fit classes, cookery classes for men and hands-on learning how to use an iPad. We also held a big tea party to celebrate our 10th anniversary.
We have over 50 volunteers working in various friendly teams on a wide range of activities, and we need help with:
Phone-line volunteers. You would divert the HSF number to your home phone and answer calls between 10 a.m. - 12 noon one day a fortnight.
Delivering newsletters in your locality twice a year
Occasional help with events such as staffing reception or serving refreshments
We are always interested to hear from people who might like to get further involved.
